I did my first withdrawal from Medium earnings!

And oh it felt so good!

If you happened to read one of my previous stories; Earning stats of my first paid story on Medium, you might remember that I was at $2 and 50 cents by the time I was writing the article.

And boy, didn’t it feel good to watch that number rise up to 50 AUD!

It felt surreal getting credited actual money into my bank account, that also by doing what I’ve always been doing all my life.

And I knew 50 dollars is just the start.

Funnily enough, the most engagement I have gotten was for that story (except for a story or two that I published before getting into the partner program), which made me realize that most readers (like myself) tend to click on stories which focus on earnings of any sort.

The irony is that the second and the third story in the above list actually took most of my time compared to the first one (while having generated 10% of the earnings on a good day) depending on,

• The level of research needed before writing the article
• The depth of emotions I was going to put down into words

So you know what I decided to do?

That I will do both!

I will keep being transparent about my Medium earnings while researching on new ways one can earn and sharing them with my readers WHILE writing about things that I like (the topics that I’m interested in, stories that shapes me as a person, confessions that help me heal).

This way, I will be able to keep up earning something on the side (at least to break even with the Medium membership fees :P) while not having to give up what writing makes me feel.

So that is my Medium story so far.

I can assure you that it gets better, it really does :)

If you could earn 50 dollars for a story that you wrote, lying on your bed on a Saturday night, imagine how far you could go!
