Your skincare doesn’t have to overwhelm you
A beginner-friendly guide to creating a lazy girl skincare routine
Long time no see folks! I know it’s been an absolute hot minute since I’ve poured my heart out here on Medium, but yours truly is back with a fresh burst of creative energy and a ton of tales to share!
Can I just say that the past few months have been an absolute whirlwind? I quit my 9-to-5 gig which was burning me out, waltzed down the aisle with my forever partner-in-crime, rode a rollercoaster of emotions while he jetted across borders for postgrads, strutted into a whole new job and been trying to calm myself down ever since! But finally, here I am, taking a breather with a heart full of gratitude and a mind that’s found its groove once again.
If you’ve come across I’m a girl, just not ‘girly’, you already know that I like being simple and comfortable. Well, this applies to skincare too. I know I should’ve started off with the benefits of having a good skincare routine and all, but you ain’t got time to read all that!
This story is dedicated to those who want to build a simple skincare routine that feels just as natural as brushing your teeth everyday (I really hope you do), so that you don’t feel overwhelmed by the gigantic amount of skincare products in the market (I know it’s scary out there).
However, Disclaimer! This is how I created my own affordable skincare routine which has worked for me so far. I’m not a skincare expert to give you any customized advises, so if you have skin conditions or if any of the below products don’t work for you, I highly recommend you see a professional. Now that it’s out of the way, let’s get to it! Here are 6 products I started off with.
1. A Good cleanser
It was hard saying goodbye to soap and water but it was all worth it. I started off with CeraVe and Cetaphil cleansers as they are typically suitable for any skin type (trust me I still don’t know what my skin type is and that’s okay), so I would highly recommend them if you’re looking for a safe start.
2. A jack-of-all-trades serum
You might already know what I’m getting at. Here’s a cookie if you guessed…
